Joining an existing school

To join an existing school, you must be invited by an admin of that school.

You can join a school as:

1. An Administrator: This role includes access to school settings, add/remove staff, and enrol students. Administrators also have the privilege of Form Teachers and Subject Teachers.

2. A Form Teacher: Assigned to a classroom and can view and manage academic records of students in the assigned classroom.

3. A Subject Teacher: Assigned to a subject across one or more classrooms. Subject Teachers can create and manage academic records specific to their assigned subject for students in their assigned classrooms.

4. A Parent: Assigned to one or more students. Parents can view academic records of their child. Only parents can manage the personal records of their child, including health-related information.

Joining a school from the Lobby#

The Lobby is the first place you arrive after creating your account.

If you have been invited to join a school, you will find the invitations in the Lobby.

Simply tap an invitation. Accept the invitation to join the school. The Lobby is the default muster point. You’ll only find yourself in the Lobby if you’re not connected to a school in any way.

Once you join a school, you’ll no longer be able to access the Lobby.

Joining a school from within the app#

Cosine allows you to be a part of multiple schools at the same time. However, you can only occupy one staff role at a school.

A user occupies a staff role if they are an Administrator, a Form Teacher or Subject Teacher.

You can easily change a staff member’s role when you need to promote/demote a staff.

While you’re a staff member in a school, you can be a parent to multiple students either in the same school or different schools.

Since you can no longer access the Lobby, you’ll find your invitations in the profile menu.

• Tap your profile picture at the top right corner of the Dashboard.
• Select “Your Invitations”. You’ll find all your invitations.
• Accept the invitation to join the school.

If you’re invited as a parent, you’ll be required to onboard your child immediately after accepting the invitation.

It takes less than 2 minutes to onboard your child after accepting a Parent invitation. Please, be sure to completely onboard your child.

What happens when you decline an invitation#

Declined invitations are deleted. Invitation rejection is irreversible.

If you mistakenly rejected an invitation, kindly contact an administrator at the school to resend the invitation.
