Cosine ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and safeguard your information when you use our platform. By accessing or using Cosine, you agree to this Policy.

Who We Are#

Cosine is an all-in-one workspace developed by Cosine Lab Inc (a planned Delaware C-Corp) for school management and collaboration between educators, school administrators, and parents. Our platform is used primarily by pre-K and K-12 institutions across Africa, though it may be accessed by users globally.

Information We Collect#

We collect the following categories of data:

Student Data (entered by adults):#

Full name, gender, birthdate, and other biodata.
Academic performance records
Classroom activities: attendance, homework, etc.
Health-related data relevant for school emergencies.

User Data (educators and parents):#

Full name, email, phone number
IP address and device information
Authentication data (used for sign-in)

School Data:#

School name, address, contact details
School structure and configuration

We do not collect data directly from children. All student data is entered by school administrators or parents.

How We Collect Data#

We collect information through:

Sign-up and login forms
School onboarding forms
Parent-submitted enrollment forms
Device-level crash reports
Firebase-based push notification subscriptions

How We Use Your Data#

We use collected data for the following purposes:

Creating and managing user accounts
School and student administration
Monitoring performance and progress
Diagnosing errors and improving stability
Sending push notifications via Firebase
Generating anonymized analytics for insights

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We only share information with trusted third-party processors under strict data agreements. Currently, this includes:

Firebase (Google LLC): Used for delivering push notifications

Data Storage and Security#

Your data is stored in Supabase data centers located in Frankfurt, Germany. We implement:

Role-based access control
Principle of least privilege
Data encryption at rest and in transit
Regular system monitoring and audit logging

Children’s Privacy#

Although Cosine is not intended for direct use by children under 13, schools and parents may input children’s data into the system.

Data Privacy Compliance: We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children. Any data related to children is provided by authorized adults (e.g. parents, school staff).
Parental Consent: By enrolling a child into a school using Cosine, the parent is deemed to have given permission for the school to use tools like Cosine to manage their child’s data.

International Use#

Cosine may be accessed globally. If you are accessing the service from a region with data protection laws (such as the EU or UK), note that your data will be transferred to and processed in Germany and the United States, depending on infrastructure.

Your Rights#

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

Withdraw consent (where applicable)
